Italy is one of the favourite European destinations among American tourists. This was confirmed by the specialist magazine Condé Nast Traveler that published the names of the European locations that won the Readers Choice Awards 2005.
The results published by Condé Nast Traveler show that Italy holds the top three positions in the list of the most beautiful cities in Europe with Florence, Rome and Venice, while Siena comes in ninth.
Sicily, Capri and Sardinia hold the third, fourth and fifth place respectively with regard to the category of the 100 most beautiful islands in Europe.
Italian hotels were also included in the list of the 10 most popular hotels in Europe with American tourists. In particular the Four Seasons in Milan was third in the list followed by Palazzo Sasso in Ravello, Hotel Splendido in Portofino and Hotel San Pietro and Sireneuse in Positano.
Said results can be given an added value thanks to the special “jury” which picked the winners, Indeed the awards are the result of a survey carried out among its readers by Conde Nast Travel that added extra weight to the reputation Italy enjoys on the US tourist market by confirming Amercians’ love of all things Italian.
