BALMAIN – My Favourites of Autumn/Winter 2011/12

Balmain has achieved an amazing relaunch of its brand in the recent few years and has become very trendy amongst the young and wealthy.

Overview

This Autumn/Winter 2011/12 collection shows very slim silhouettes – mainly skinny trousers paired with small tunics and perfectly cut jackets. Balmain shows a very distinct move to glam-rock evoking the ‘70s style of David Bowie.

Key Looks – Key Pieces

At least one piece of every look is shiny! The tunics are very glamorously and heavily embroidered with thousands of crystals. The jackets are cut like Tuxedos. Overall it is a collection of very young looks and preferably for a fun night out. However, the sparkling and shiny pieces can be paired very easily with a pair of jeans in order to bring them more towards a daytime look – brave and bold but very appealing!

The colours stay in-line with the general use through most collections – Balmain chose mostly black, aluminium silver, coppery gold and the dark gem-stone colours.

My Favourite Pieces

The sparkling slim-cut mini-dresses/tunics! I’d pair them with my skinny black trousers and very heavy boots and wear them during the day!
