A Tour with Cultural Journalist, Lucio Esposito

The Villa Fondi De Sangro , holds special his torical importance in Piano di Sorrento. The garden surrounds the Museo Archeologico Georges Vallet, a 19-century structure that is named after the famous archaeologist and scholar. The location overlooks a picturesque cliff which offers a territorial history of the coast. It represents the prehistoric Roman time to the present day. The garden consists of a rich landscape with big trees , types of palms, cacti and beautiful flowers. Lucio Esposito, the author of “The Roman Maritime Villas” and a culturejournalist from Positanonews , is an expert on Roman villas and the Marina di Cassano. After the destruction of the villa in 1980, Piano di Sorrento purchased it and began restoration in the nineties. A nymph glass-colored mosaic structure holds importance from Campania and depicts the divinity between land and sea, showing sea animals and land animals. The structure appeared in displays around the world before returning to the seaside villa four years later.

It’s truly a magnificent viewpoint over the Gulf of Naples and one of the most beautiful gardens in the region. Esposito explained the history of this specific villa, the garden’s restoration and the surrounding scenery in Piano di Sorrento.
