A few weeks ago we stumbled upon the Chiesa della Santissima Annunziata, a 14th-century pink and white Catholic church located on a cliff, overlooking the sea. What we didn’t expect was a wedding underway. We were so captivated by the cathedral in Vico Equense that the wedding music blended into the beautiful scenery perfectly, making us forget where we were standing is a popular wedding destination for bot h locals and travelers.

The wedding on July 14 was exclusive, yet my coworker and I had a clear view of the aisle. We discussed how beautiful and moving the ceremony was and began to question how much a wedding like the one at the Church of the Santissima Annunziata would cost.

For around 80 guests a wedding can range anywhere between 50,000 to 90,000 Euros. Now, depending on how luxurious the venue and amount of guests, we’re talking about a much higher price. Destination weddings in Italy are extremely popular because of what the venues have to offer. The lush gardens, gorgeous beach scenes and romantic landscapes sound like a no-brainer. Twenty-five percent of US weddings are destinations every year. With the massive influx of travel this summer, 35 million more Americans are expected to travel this summer, according to Forbes. Destination weddings are also a vacation for everyone involved.

From an American point of view, Europe attracts Americans romantically. And Italy is a romantic destination to get married.
