An Interview with a Sorrentine Peninsula Realtor
Progetto Casa-Immobiliare Real Estate Agent Paola D’esposito, the owner of the building in Piano di Sorrento where Positano News has its office, started working in the field 22 years ago.
Before the pandemic, D’Esposito worked mainly for locals who need to buy or rent properties anywhere between the Sorrento and Amalfi coasts. Now, she says a majority of the real estate in the area has become centered around tourism. There is a high demand for rental properties and / or tourists looking to buy a property in the area. The cost of the house is being paid by tourism when the property is directed to those coming to the Sorrento Peninsula.
Just like in the United States, the market fluctuated during the pandemic. In the midst, the property value decreased around 2009 and prices of new homes were relatively low. Now, prices have increased and in the fall season she predicts prices will continue to rise, said D’Esposito. Her biggest competitors are the surrounding towns and villages itself, like Vico Equense, Meta di Sorrento, Massalubrense, Positano, Praiano, Amalfi especially since housing market predictions are not always predictable.
In the office when D’Esposito’s phone isn’t ringing off the hook, she engages in conversation with the two American journalists, exchanging knowledge on the Italian language. When her phone di lei is ringing off the hook, she is engaged in her profession and knows how to correctly tend to the demand of the market.
