Dj e produttore di fama internazionale del genere “Afro Hose” e Afro Latin” A Positano, continuano le grandi serate al Music on the Rocks ballando sotto le stelle. La discoteca più bella del mondo, non solo per la struttura, ricavata in parte in una roccia sulla spiaggia, ma anche per il panorama della perla della Costiera amalfitana. Chi è Peppe Citarella

DJ e produttore italiano , da adolescente ascoltava dischi di suo padre , artisti come Stevie Wonder , Barry White , Aretha Franklin che sicuramente hanno influenzato suo gusto musicale . Nel 1990 inizia a comprare i miei primi dischi scoprendo fortemente la passione per il sound U.S.A. (soul , latin , jazz, r&b, funky, garage e oldschol) e iniziai ad alimentare il discorso del mixaggio per poi dichiararmi DJ

Appena maggiorenne sentiva il bisogno di spostarsi dall’Italia per viaggiare e conoscere nuove realta’ , Un girovagare lungo e articolato soprattutto in quello dell’America Latina dove ho scoperto culture e realta’ musicali differenti che alla fine mi appartengono dalla nascita, avendo mia Nonna materna di origini Latine , ricevute da parte di sua nonna nata da un mix di genitori , Protoricana e Messicani.

Al mio ritorno in Italia , stando lontano dalla consolle e dal mio studio per circa 2 anni , aveva accumulato tanta di quella energia e voglia di produrre musica e suonare nei club affermandosi da subito con il suo stile musicale , nel 2011 , in collaborazione con  India nasce il primo disco “TACALACATEO” che si posiziono’ tra le prime 10 song piu’ suonate negli stati uniti “Bilboard.com”.

Nel 2012, ho prodotto “MamaAfrica” ​​con India e Paki Palmieri e da qui che inizio creare beat “Afro” con contaminazioni si suoni “latini” , Il genre che oggi viene definito Afro / Latin , e da qui che inizio’ a firmare con diverse etichette importatI come : Tony Records, Defected, Nervous , Quantize , Kingstrret , Moblack e altre.

Fino ache nasce nel 2017 la sua Label “UNION RECORDS” , che in pochi anni si e’ affermata tra le label più’ note nel proporre il genere “Afro Hose” e Afro Latin”.

Who is Peppe Citarela?

Peppe Citarella is an Italian DJ and producer. As a young boy he listened to Stevie Wonder and Barry White and was influenced by Soul, R&B and Disco. In the 90’s he began exploring Jazz, Garage, Old School Classics. He started out dreaming of playing drums but Peppe was later attracted to mixing. His soulful upbringing created a unique identity, different from the typical Italian DJ’s.

As a DJ Peppe was building a reputation in Italy and began to blend music of his Latin origin and Mexican heritage. After a couple of years spent playing across the world Peppe came back home to Italy, entertaining clubbers with his unique skills, programming US sounds in to his sets.

2008 Peppe joined “Qi Clubbing Family” becoming the resident DJ in Prive area, one of the best Italian clubs. Peppe’s experience brought him to the biggest international stages across the globe, as far afield as India. This trip influenced his first hit track “Tacalacateo” ranking top of the Best International Dance Chart and “BillBoard” Dance/Club Chart.

In 2012, Peppe produced “MamaAfrica” with India and Paki Palmieri mixing tribal rhythms and soul which also became a popular chart hit. The “Citarella Dub Piano Mix” gained popularity worldwide and particularly throughout Japan. This led to Peppe to an opportunity to collaborate with the House Music Pioneer Tony Humphries on “Tony Records”.

With 2015 came a collaboration with DJ Spen publishing the works of Peppe Citarella on the “Quantize” & “Unquantize” labels. International heaters like “Yangui ci Birr” featuring African percussion influences and a Ghanaian flavor. That track sat in the Traxsource AfroHouse Top 100 for six weeks. The following year Peppe collaborated with “Vida Records” founded by Pablo Fierro (“Nawe”) and “MoBlack Records” founded by MoBlack (“Ayo Néné”).

In 2017 Peppe created the label “Union Records” and the first release was “Organ Ride”, which went in to the Top 10 on the Soulful House genre on Traxsource, within a few weeks. In 2018 his track “Moyubba” made it on to the incredible compilation “Weaving Genres” Vol 2 by his friend Def Mix sensation, Hector Romero. This was in the #1 House album worldwide. Peppe’s collaboration with Peruvian percussionist Cristian Afrotronix and also will appeared on the compilation “Defected Ibiza 2018”

In 2019 Union Records has enjoyed incredible success in both the Afro House and Soulful House genres, with long-standing and chart topping tracks it has become one of the industry’s most respected labels. Peppe Citarella is celebrating 10 years of releasing incredible music and his international journey has earned him an outstanding reputation worldwide.
